The Special Educator began as a simple conviction: every learner deserves to be seen, understood, and equipped to thrive. Founder Tom Hankins brought together real-world classroom experience, community engagement, and a love of technology to build a home for practical, inclusive teaching. What started as sharing ideas across videos, livestreams, and posts has grown into a multimedia platform rooted in curiosity, compassion, and results.
Our mission is to empower educators, families, and neurodiverse learners with strategies that work in the real world. We focus on accessible, adaptive teaching; clear, actionable guidance; and community-driven learning that honors individual strengths. We aim to bridge the gap between what research suggests, what classrooms demand, and what learners actually need.
We do not solicit or ask for any non-public information. Anything private is best reserved for direct contact with us, especially when discussing adaptive teaching strategies or the P.I.K.E. Method, both of which are essential special education resources.
